What’s is the First thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Volvo, you know what comes to my Mind, Tanks Moving on the road with the Occupants inside it Chilling like they got nothing to worry about and why would they worry, they are moving in a car that has got Comfort, Luxury, Performance and is the god when it comes it the matter of Safety.
Well today, we are going to be discussing a Car which is one of the least expensive ways to get a Volvo Sedan, here I have given special emphasis to the word Sedan because of the least expensive Volvo as of now in India Happens to be the Volvo XC40, which is as well know an SUV. The most expensive Volvo in India happens to be the Volvo XC90, which is a Car to be discussed for another day but for now back to the S60.
Volvo is coming up with the all New S60 in the 1st quarter of 2021, and guess what it’s going to be Boring, now why did I say that, because first of all the Launch has already been delayed by quite a huge amount of time, the Production of the previous-gen Volvo s60 in India which was on sale from 2011 was discontinued in July 2019 and then After almost 1 and half year Volvo said they are going to relaunch it, we were excited but when they finally revealed all the specs of the upcoming s60, it literally broke our Heart.
Charles Frump who is the managing director for Volvo Car India Confirmed that the S60 won’t be delayed any further, he also confirmed that the new s60 will be a petrol-only model, “We will come with one petrol engine and one trim level”. That sucks and Charles I am so disappointed in you man.
The engine in question is a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder unit that’s available internationally in different states of tune. Power output ranges from 190hp for the front-wheel drive, turbo-petrol T4, all the way up to 390hp for the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid model. The T8 combines a 303hp, supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels with a 65kW electric motor powering the rear wheels. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard on all variants. Volvo is expected to offer the lower-powered S60 T4 version in India, using the same engine that powers the XC40 in India.
The only trim on offer is likely to be the range-topping R-Design which gets all the bells and whistles.
I wish they launched the most powerful version of the s60, it will be sick for sure and there are definitely going to be some buyers, after all, India is such a huge market and I am not sure that Volvo would want to miss out on such a big market.
Now coming to the Rivals of s60, the Volvo s60 is likely going to go up against the likes of the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes Benz c class, the Jaguar XE, and the upcoming Audi A4, but its arch-rival is going to be the A4 because it has always been a tough competition between these 2 cars and the competition is really interesting, to say the least.
Now Let’s discuss some of the Specs of the S60 Shall we, the S60 is a Hybrid that is going to give lots of Miles per gallon even driven at a normal pace, the acceleration of the car is swift and there is barely any presence of Lag.
Having a low center of Gravity helps the S60, to be lower to the ground comparing up against its competitors, this gives the s60 a compact feeling and a sporty characteristic which makes it really fun to drive especially around the corners.
The Long wheelbase of the s60 helps it maintain stability at higher speeds and the specially engineered suspension ensures that the ride quality is as great as it can possibly be.
It will be interesting to see, how Volvo will price the S60 because the competition is making their cars affordable, Volvo should too before it’s too late….
