We all have heard about Tesla, the OG and probably the coolest Car manufacturer out there, they also happen to be the most valued Car manufacturer in the world with their valuation being around 830 billion dollars and at the pace, they are growing it won’t be surprising if one day we see tesla being valued for more than 1 trillion dollars and that would also make tesla world’s first automotive company to be valued at 1 trillion dollars.
But the question is, why is Tesla so successful? How did they find the perfect strategy to be at the top, ever wondered?
Well, I did, so let’s start from the beginning: -
Tesla was founded on 1st July 2003 by martin Eberhard and marc tarpening, in 2004 while the founders were seeking funding to develop their first product, 2004 Elon Musk stepped in as the chairman of the board of directors.
The roadster was unveiled to the world in 2006 and then in 2008 the first roadster was rolled off the line, and as you might have guessed the first roadster went to Elon Musk, in the same year Elon became the CEO of Tesla, and from then on, the winning journey of Tesla Began.
The roadster helped tesla get enough revenue so that they can start working on the next project and that’s exactly what happened, even though tesla only sold about 2500 roadsters, each of those roadsters cost over 100K$ so, tesla made a good amount of money, good enough to start laying the foundations for the model S.
Now the Model S is the car that really changed the game plan for tesla, the roadster was good, but it was the model S that made the world have their eyes on tesla, tesla started getting attention, they started getting praise for making such a great car and people were really curious that how did tesla make such a car that broke all the traditional norms society had about electric cars. The Model S won many awards and for the first time, people saw what an electric car is actually capable of if it’s made right.
The Model S did its job, which was to put a dent into the automotive industry and to remind everyone and that there was an all-new player in the game.
Then came Tesla’s first SUV, the Model X, which not only made the market for tesla bigger but it brought versatility to the Tesla Line-up, and consumers had more choice. The Gullwing doors, the practicality, the stunning looks, all of these were the major contributing factors in the success of the Model X.
Model X also became quite popular in India. When people started ordering Tesla’s in India, their first priority was the model X, even the tech inside the Model X had a huge contribution towards its success.
And then came the most popular tesla model of all time, the tesla model 3, the most affordable tesla, the one that brought tesla more success than any car they have ever made.
The Variety of options that tesla was offering with their models instantly attracted people. There were other EVs in the market but were they anywhere close to tesla? NO! They were just selling cars, but Tesla on the other hand was selling a product that was never seen before, never made before.
You see, Tesla is like the apple of car companies, one’s who buy it align with tesla’s why, and the ones who don’t simply just don’t get it. People feel connected with tesla’s why and that is why Tesla is winning.
The Model 3 was all tesla needed to not only prove to other’s what it’s capable of but to challenge themselves of building a car that’s relatively affordable compared to the other cars in their line-up.
It’s like the final nail on the coffin. And at last, came the Tesla Model Y, not only did it complete the line-up but now people have cars to suit every type of need.
Was it necessary for Tesla to build the model y? No, the Model S, the Model X, and the Model 3 were more than enough but Tesla knew that there is still a significant amount of people who can’t afford the model X but desire a tesla SUV.
These four models also completed the Line-up that tesla calls SEXY. Now you might be wondering why the Tesla Model 3 has been named Model 3 and not Model E, well Ford owns the rights of using Term model E, so tesla couldn’t use for the Model 3 but being the intelligent manufacturer Tesla is they named it model 3 which very closely resembles model E.
And Of course, to top all of this, Elon musk’s coolness and personal branding act like a cherry on the cake, he brings in a lot of attention to the brand and as we all know, Attention is the new currency, one that has the most, wins the game and earns the most.
