Recently, the BMW M340i was launched in India. It's a sports saloon with a luxurious and comfortable ride. It comes with a 3.0 Litre Inline six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, that pushes out 382 horsepower and 500 nm of torque. Now as good as it sounds, there are some things you should know about it.
First of all, BMW has limited the sales number to just 40. The reason might be the attractive price range at which the M340i has been priced which happens to be 62 lakhs ex-showroom. If I had to sum up this car in a Sentence, it would be: "A Baby BMW M3 for the enthusiasts”.
Now on the design front, I really liked it a Lot, why?? Well, it’s simple, it looks like just another luxury car from that segment and that’s what’s special. It’s a sleeper car,
Now I told you the numbers, but do you want to know the results of these numbers?? Here it goes, the BMW M340i will accelerate from 0 to 60mph in the same time as the BMW M2 Competition, and just to remind you, the BMW M2 Competition is a proper sports car, that’s lighter in weight, has more power, has more torque, has two fewer seats.
So, if you wanted to get an idea of how BMW has engineered the M340i now you have an idea of how they have done it.
If we come to the interior, it’s not really that special, what I mean is that it’s quite bland at the first sight but over time, that acceleration takes over your mind and you would probably forget about how bland the interior is, it seems to be comfortable though.
Germans are always a step ahead of everyone when it comes to the integration of new technologies into Cars and BMW has done the same with the M340i.
One of the biggest reliefs, when the M340i was unveiled, was that BMW hadn’t integrated their all-new grille onto this car, they have gone with their classic grille.
Now another question that might have popped in your mind would be, why did BMW just allow 40 units to be sold in India? Couldn’t they allot more?
The reasoning behind this is quite simple if you see it from the perspective of BMW. They have basically created a feeling of FOMO, which is Fear of missing out,
They created this feeling so that people who have the ability to buy it rush to buy it without thinking that they would get one later, I can bet you, they might have sold those 40 units already because of the attractive package the M340i is giving at the Price point.
Skoda uses the same strategy with their Octavia Vrs Models so that they can sell them fast.
Let’s see what happens in the future models that BMW will launch because with the hype and the success of the M340i, BMW is sure to launch some similar limited-edition cars in the Indian Market, not only will it increase their sales, it will also increase the respect for the brand among the enthusiasts and the market.
So, that will be all for this time, I trust you liked this one, if you did then do share it with your friends and do consider subscribing to Motordrift for more such content in the future!
